Okay, I fell off this month.

I was good through the first third of March, then things got a little tough at work and then really tough at work.

Basically, for the latter two thirds of this month, I didn’t post and I didn’t pin. (And I’m writing this income report on April 21, not April 1, to give you an idea of how things went after that.)

But! Something interesting did happen this month, and anyway when this blog is wildly successful it’ll bother me if there’s a gap in the blog income report 2025. So I’m going to write it late instead of not at all.

Excuses, sort of

Okay, well: we had a health scare in the family, and a kid activity picked up like crazy, and I took on a student teacher who needed a ton of help, and my husband’s work busy season started, and so on. A lot of little demands on my attention that pulled me away from really being here.

It just is what it is. I have to be able to live my life — if there’s one thing that prevented me from succeeding this month, it’s not any of these problems. It’s that I tend towards a type of perfectionism with the schedule where if it isn’t going to be perfect, I sometimes just throw my hands up and say, oh well.

It’s kind of like a dieter’s mindset, like “I might as well eat the whole bag” but for slacking. I was like this in school, too. Everything was either absolutely perfect or an absolute mess. I have to work on this.

But anyway, I have to give myself grace and get back on track. So here we are.

Despite all that….10,000 sessions

So, I hit 10,000 sessions this month in a really funny way.

Here’s the graph:

See that spike?

On that day, for some random reason, thousands of people did a Google search for the SOTO Method, and hundreds of them clicked on my blog post about SOTO.

(By way of update: I’m still using the app. I love it. I use the SOTO Stride training runs pretty much exclusively now. It gets me out of my head and into Hilary’s head, which seems like a nicer place to be than mine usually is when I’m running!)

It trickled off over the course of a couple days. But it was enough to get me to 10K!

(I wish I had seen that and been like, “wow, I gotta get back to work and keep this momentum going”. Because April will definitely not be 10K. But we’re going to keep our heads up! A blog income report 2025 with 10K sessions? We aren’t going to complain.

Pinterest

When I wasn’t writing, I wasn’t pinning either. I had been seeing improvement in two months of really consistent pinning, and it just fell by the wayside.

About two weeks ago I took the leap and signed up with a Pinterest manager. I think it’ll be easier to stay on track if I’m not doing eeeeeeverything, and I honestly have such a tough time with the Pinterest stuff. I don’t think my pins were really optimized properly, and I was so anxious about my pin designs.

It’s an expense, but if it’ll make the blog grow faster, it’s worth it. I’m really hopeful about the manager and I can’t wait to report back on that. (That was an April expense, so it doesn’t show up in this income report calculation.)

Income for March 2025

From Journey, I earned $226.50 in March. From Amazon, I earned $27.13 in commissions.

I froze RankIQ, which I’m glad about because obviously I barely wrote anything in March.

So the total blog revenue for March 2025 is the entire income, $253.63.

And the year-to-date revenue for 2025 is now $634.86. That means I’m going to have to file taxes this year. (Yay?)

And the revenue for the life of the blog, since December 2023, is $558.67. (The blog lost money consistently until I got into Journey, so it’s only recently that we’ve filled in the money that was paid out.)

I’m going to skip my goals post for April since there’s only nine days left in April. I’m forgiving myself for dropping the ball and moving on. I just need to focus on writing good quality posts and staying on track.
